Seatbelts are the most underrated safety technology of all time: Tim identified seatbelt usage as the biggest safety trend he is currently seeing across the fleet and it stopped the conversation in its tracks. The statistics are not close. Sixty percent of unbuckled commercial vehicle drivers die in rollovers. A seatbelt reduces fatal injury risk by approximately 60 percent and moderate to critical injury by 65 percent in commercial vehicles. Marcus backed Tim up with a personal story about two classmates he lost in rollover accidents in high school, both fully ejected from their vehicles. Tim's message was direct. Buckle it. There is no argument worth making against it.

ELDs versus paper logs, Jackie's honest admission: The conversation about how far trucking technology has come led to a genuine moment of honesty from Jackie. Tim described seeing trucks go three wide on purpose just to slow traffic down because the four wheelers around them were creating a genuinely dangerous situation. His message to drivers was consistent. Abide the speed limit, not the flow of traffic. An 80,000 pound truck does not stop the same way a 4,000 pound car does.
